The American Amusement Machine Association (AAMA), Amusement and Music Operators Association (AMOA), encourage manufacturers, developers, and distributors of coin-operated video games to:

  • endeavor to diminish levels of violence in new coin-operated video games (consistent with current industry trends), and to develop and market coin-operated video games that are suitable for all ages; and
  •
  • place a "Parental Advisory Disclosure Message" on new coin-operated video games in a location that is readily visible to the player(s) of the game at all times, consistent with the Coin-Operated Video Game Parental Advisory System.

AAMA and AMOA encourage location owners and operators of coin-operated video games in locations where children may have access to a variety of coin-operated games, some of which may not be suitable for all ages, to:

  • encourage parents to accompany young children into such locations and to assist in making decisions about the games their children play;
  •
  • ensure that a Parental Advisory Disclosure Message appears in the required position on all coin-operated video games at such locations;
  •
  • to the extent feasible at such locations, post information providing consumers with information about the Coin-Operated Video Game Parental Advisory System.
  •
  • encourage staff at such locations to familiarize themselves with the Coin-Operated Video Game Parental Advisory System in order to answer questions regarding the System; and
  •
  • to the extent feasible, encourage staff at such locations to discourage children who are unaccompanied by parents from playing coin-operated video games which carry a 'Strong" (i.e., red color) Parental Advisory Disclosure Message.
  •

All sectors of the coin-operated video game industry will be encouraged to work with AAMA in support of the Educational Program regarding the Coin-Operated Video Game Parental Advisory System.
